About
A strategy and innovation studio for the real estate ecosystem.
We help brokerages, real estate technology companies, title companies and other industry organizations understand where they're going, what deserves attention, and how to turn strategy into execution.
Why we exist
Most organizations don't need more tools. They need a better blueprint.
Brokerages and the companies that serve them are working through a lot at once: tighter margins, more mobile agents, platforms multiplying and merging, and AI changing how work gets done.
In that environment it's easy to keep adding software and initiatives. It's harder to step back and decide how the whole business should work. Pickup Studios exists to help leadership teams do that, and then to help them act on it.
We're not a marketing agency chasing deliverables, and we're not a technology reseller. We're operators and strategic thinkers who understand brokerage economics, vendor dynamics, agent behavior and the organizational friction that builds up over time.
How we think
A few ideas that run through our work.
Strategy before software
Technology should follow strategy, not lead it. The most expensive technology is the kind nobody uses.
The brokerage as an operating system
Every organization already has an operating system. The question is whether it was designed or simply accumulated.
Judgment as an advantage
As AI makes capabilities common, clear decisions and good execution become harder to copy than any feature.
We write about these ideas in Founders Field Notes and share practical guidance in Insights.

Founder
John Fischer
John founded Pickup Studios after more than 25 years working in and around the real estate industry.
He began his career in residential real estate and went on to build and operate a brokerage in Cleveland, before selling the company to a competitor. He later joined Dwellworks, a global relocation and real estate services company where he led product design and innovation. Eventually, he returned to the brokerage side of the business, taking over an existing operation, leading an acquisition and expanding it into multiple markets under a new brand.
That path has given John an unusual perspective on the industry. He has been a broker and business owner, built products and technology for real estate companies, and worked with many of the vendors and service providers trying to reach brokers and agents.
Today, through Pickup Studios, he works with brokerage leaders, proptech companies and other industry organizations on strategy, positioning, product, operational design, technology and AI. He also writes Founder’s Field Notes, an occasional series exploring the changes, ideas and patterns he’s seeing across the real estate ecosystem.

David Sharkey, Progressive Urban Real Estate“Not only does the Pickup team intimately know the real estate industry, they have the unique ability to identify your problem, create a strategy to solve it and then apply customized technology to the solution.”
Wayne Einhorn, President, Inner Circle Broker CoachingLet's talk.
Pickup Studios works with a limited number of organizations each year. If you're exploring strategy, innovation or operational clarity, this is a good place to begin.
